Orlando entertainer SB the Anomoly opened up for KRS-One at Liquid Night Club on May 5th. ROHH caught up to him to talk about his experience. Make sure you check out the performance video at the end of the interview

ROHH: How did you get the opportunity to open for KRS-One?

SB the Anomoly: I recently went solo almost 2 years ago and in a short amount of time established myself as an individual act. I put out many videos that I directed and edited my self, published a book, gained an online presence and built a buzz. A friend of mine by the name of Smoove T had a vision of bringing real hip hop acts to Orlando one by one and KRS was first on his list. After hearing me freestyle for hours, checking my music and watching how people reacted to my performances he came to the conclusion that I would be perfect for the bill.

ROHH: How did you feel about your performance?

SB: I was highly elated about my performance! It came out exactly how I envisioned it and I got way more out of it than I could have ever imagined. I had ID of Nomad Collectiv as my hype man who did a wonderful job getting the crowd rocking before I went on. Dj Rod One played the perfect cuts to set the performance off. Orlando’s own Rubox joined me on stage and displayed his dope beat boxing abilities while I freestyled along. B-Boy Flash came through with his crew repping the Zulu Kings and tore the dance floor down. Members from Nomad Collectiv/FNM performed a song with me and ripped the microphone up! The performance came out dope and I’m thankful for everyone who rocked with me.

ROHH: The following day he asked you to come to his Miami performance. Were you expecting to make it on stage with him or was that a surprise?

SB: Not at all, I was just hype about seeing him perform again. When I got to the venue (The Stage) it was packed and I didn’t think I would get a chance to see anyone from his camp. A moment later I ran into his son Dj Predator Prime and assistant Aniah. They were in a rush so I didn’t want to hold them up but during his performance Aniah sent me a message telling me to grab the mic when he calls for emcees to cipher. I was still unsure because KRS went into the crowd at the Orlando concert during the cipher and people pushed me in the circle. I had the honor of him giving me the mic to set the cipher off in Orlando and wasn’t banking on the same luck two nights in a row. His assistant ended up finding me in the crowd and directed me to the side of the stage where KRS manager was who also told me to grab the mic when he asks for emcees. The time came and once I got on stage the best night of my hip hop career took place shortly there after. When KRS saw me he showed me mad love and started saying “you made it! you made it!” I am so thankful I found footage of the whole scenario on line.

ROHH: I hear that you have plans for a collab, tell us about it.

SB: Yes, I still can’t believe it. I was standing outside of Club Liquid after the Orlando show ended when his manager sent me the message about the collab. I almost fainted after I read the message for a second time to make sure I wasn’t going crazy. Rapper/producer Skitzo made the beat and the song features me on the first verse, Skitzo on the hook and KRS-One on the second verse. The track is entitled “Hip Hops My Life” and is about how Hip Hop is suppose to be versus what many artist portray it as today. The track has that 90’s Hip Hop sound with Dj Rod One blessing it with some old school cuts and scratches. It will be dropping very soon!

ROHH: What was the most memorable part of your experience?

SB: The most memorable part happened in Miami when KRS said my name in a freestyle and gave me the mic to spit. This was the second night in a row he passed me the mic first to set off the cipher. I was so hype and had so much I wanted to say in a small amount of time. To see a legend and idol of mine from the same city I grew up in going crazy, as I rhymed punch lines back-to-back was insane. Then when I was done he started telling me how much he liked one of my lines. As an emcee It was a dream come true.
